Our 15kg marquee weights are the ultimate solution when it comes to keeping your marquee or gazebo safe and secure in windy weather.

In our experience, 99% of damage that ever happens to a marquee is caused by it not being weighed down correctly using marquee weights, with a breeze or gust coming along and lifting the marquee up. This is extremely dangerous as once a marquee becomes unsecured, it is a very large object travelling uncontrollably towards people.

15kg Gazebo Weights, But Two 7.5kg Halves

We’ve specially designed our cast iron gazebo leg weights to be made of two separate plates, each weighing only 7.5kg.

This is an intentional decision by us to be more OH&S friendly, compared to other products on the market that are single plates weighing 15kg or 20kg. Our clients often give us feedback that our leg weights are a lot more “back friendly” compared to these larger single unit weights.

The 7.5kg plates allow for much easier loading and unloading from vehicles and transport across fields to your stall or display. Making our 15kg gazebo weights a very popular item.

Our Gazebo Weight Plates Are Stackable & Interlocking

The gazebo weight plates are also stackable, allowing you to put on as much weight as required for whatever wind conditions you’re intending to be set up in.

There is no general answer to the question “how much weight do I need”, as that completely depends on the amount of wind speed you want your weights to secure your marquee for. The more wind you expect to experience, the more weight you need on your marquee legs.

As the weights stack, we designed our 15kg marquee weights to rotate 180 degrees, interlocking the different gazebo weight plates layers together. This means that the foot plate or marquee leg won’t slip out to the side in wind, and if the marquee does lift up off the ground (if the wind speed exceeds the amount of weight you have on the legs) the plates will stay locked onto the feet.

Peggable Into The Ground & For Tie Off

The marquee weights also have holes in the side to allow for pegging into the ground to prevent sliding. The marquee weights protect against lifting, but by using the pegs in the weights you’re also protecting against sliding forces.

The holes also provide a location to be able to use the weights to tie ropes to. The weights can be used in lieu of pegs when using guy ropes coming off at an angle from the frame.

This may be an option for additional weighting of your marquee in addition to gazebo weight plates on the legs, or should your local council or market organisers require you to secure your marquee further.

Marquee Weight Plates Required For Specific Wind Speeds

These marquee weight plates have nothing to do with how strong the marquee is, but it is our recommendation based on the engineering of our marquees of how much weight should be put on each marquee leg for a given wind speed.

NOTE: This is based on our marquees, and our design. If you have a marquee from another company, you’ll need to contact the manufacturer and ask them how much weight you need for the wind speed you’re intending on using the gazebo in.

The above wind speeds are in km/h. Weights are per leg, not in total.

As an example, a 3m x 3m marquee has 4 legs, you’ll need a minimum of 4 x sets of weights. If you have a 3m x 6m marquee, they have 6 legs, so you’ll need a minimum of 6 x sets of weights.

So a for a 3x3m to be safe at 60km/h wind speed, you'll require 30kg per leg ( 2 x 15kg weights), so 4 legs x 2 weights per leg = 8 weights required.

FAQs

Do gazebos need to be anchored?

Absolutely. The number one reason gazebos get damaged in windy conditions is because they're not secured to the ground. Regardless how strong your gazebo is, if it picks up and flies away, it will likely get damaged. Not only that, but it's a massive safety risk to those around as a gazebo that's out of control can cause a lot of damage and injury.

Do gazebo weights work?

Gazebo weights work very well because they're simple to use and a known "hold down". Unlike a peg that loses hold down power in soft or loose soil, a leg weight is always going to be the weight it is when it's made. The gazebo weights also lock onto the leg of the marquee, ensuring that they really work well to hold the gazebo down.

How much weight do you need to hold down a gazebo?

It all depends on the wind speed you're going to be using your gazebo in. Refer to the table above and work backwards from the wind speeds you expect to use your gazebo in to work out how much weight you need on each leg.

I don't have a Canopy Outdoor gazebo. Can I use your weights with my frame?

Our weights can fit 30mm Square-Leg frames all the way up to 57mm Hex-Leg frames. We highly recommend measuring the width of your gazebo legs first before purchasing. If you are still unsure, feel free to contact us to confirm.
